The Pharmaceuticals Business manufactures and markets OTC and prescription drugs, with most of the sales coming from Kampo medicines. The Business recorded the sales of approx. 18.1 billion yen in FY2005. As one of the market leaders in Kampo medicines, we are committed to expanding the business through addressing the needs of health-conscious consumers and senior citizens. In the consumer healthcare business it provides a range of products that meet customer needs, including "Coccoapo" for alleviating typically female conditions of constipation and subcutaneous fat, "Kakkonto" series for common colds and "Hachimijiogan", which is beneficial for the elderly suffering from blurred vision and frequent urination. We have continuously maintained the top share in the OTC Kampo medicines market. In October 2006, a new line of products "Kampo Therapy" was introduced to the drug store channel. For pharmacies specializing in Kampo medicines, we provide high quality information and Kampo medicines. As for the prescription drugs business, medical doctors and pharmacists praise our range of products incorporating Kampo benefits, especially in areas that cannot be fully addressed with western medicines. We handle "Saireito", "Hochuekkito" and "Shoseiryuto" as our leading products. Their performance has helped us hold the second share in the market.
